Announcement on the sudden death of Minos Kyriakou

Mr. Panagiotis Podimatas, representing the Athens Flying Week Organizing Committee as the Chairman, would wish to express the Committee’s deepest feelings of sorrow, for the unexpected death of Minos Kyriakou.

Minos was a multifaceted business personality and creative mind, whose initiatives will remain indelible in the memory of everyone who is familiar with his activities along his lifetime.

Athens Flying Week was inseparably connected with Minos Kyriakou, through our common interest and dedication for the Aviation Ideals.

Minos Kyriakou, was the creator and founder of the
Athenian Aviators Collection, a unique private collection of aircraft with significant historical value, in Greece, in flyable condition. The spectacle of these aviation history vintages in an air display, is particularly impressive.

The Athens Flying Week, which organizes the
Athens Flying Week-International Airshow in Greece, is the platform that has the honor of hosting one or more historical aircraft of the Athenian Aviators Collection every year, attracting the enthusiasm of thousands of aviation spectators, who are aware about this collaboration with Minos and the Antenna Group.

The great deceased and loyal aviation friend, had the time for this year as well, to approve the participation of his
Collection, to the Athens Flying Week- Tanagra International Airshow 2017.

Catalina, his favorite aircraft, a very rear historical seaplane, will fly from its hangar in Tatoi and land to Tanagra Airport to be displayed and admired on the
16th and 17th of September 2017, as a core item for the AFW Tanagra International Air Show.

Farewell Captain! We will miss you, as will everyone else, who knew and loved you. We are sure that you will be happy to watch, from up there, yourCatalina, operating back in Tanagra, after 12 years of your decision for her original participation in the Hellenic Air Force’ s Airshow ‘’Archangel 2005’’.

We, the Athens Flying Week Committee, will dedicate this flight of Catalina in September,
to your memory and will remind to the crowds about your enormous life time offer to the Aviation History and Ideals.
